Sympathizer

I felt like this project of mine needed a post of its own, so here it is!

Sympathizer: Stone of Attamon - A slightly AU retelling of The Little Vampire, where actions have the expected consequences, based on my own extended pondering of the why's of the film. Set in a more realistic version of the TLV universe, Tony is a little boy just relocated to Scotland who's just started experiencing dreams and visions of vampires. Unable to control the urge to talk about them, he makes a fool of himself in front of his peers, who all think he's nuts. Then Tony meets child vampire Rudolph Sackville-Bagg and becomes seriously invested in the cause of him and his family, their desire to become human.

Sympathizer 2 - In Progress, and I have a policy of not posting chapters of fics until the work itself is complete. Sequel to Stone of Attamon and The Little Vampire, continuing right from the end of the ceremony at the end of the film and again exploring the consequences of some of the actions of the characters in The Little Vampire. This is also an exploration of my pet theory that Von is alive, and what it means for the greater McAshtonland community and especially Tony and the Sackville-Bagg clan.

Elements to be incorporated as time goes on:

• Dracula (as a young man, perhaps 18 or 19)
• Bailey, Rookery's niece and apprentice vampire hunter, on whom Gregory develops a serious crush (she is, in fact, an OC)
• Possible discussion of the origins of vampires in demons and/or magic

P.S. sorry for waiting such a long time to finish this. I've been really busy lately with life.

On this, the eve of Halloween...

I want everyone to know I am still alive, or undead, as the case may be, and I want to wish everyone a happy Halloween even if it is a bit early. I'm also sorry that I've been lapsing on my Discrepancies and Curiosities series, as well as posting Little Vampire material in general. I have plans to watch the old series when I have some free time, and I'll post links to those playlists (over on YouTube) should any of you care to join me. Tomorrow I'll also post a selfie of me in costume as (off color and femme) Gregory, also showing off my snazzy new haircut in funky style and all that makeup needed to make me look like one of the undead! I know it's been a while since my first and last video, so perhaps I'll do one of those, too.

Basically, I really need to get back in the swing of this blog, and since I'll be watching TLV as part of my elaborate Samhain/Halloween celebrations, perhaps I'll be inspired. I'm starting to think about my sequel to Sympathizer: Stone of Attamon (which deserves its own post, honestly, so I won't link it here) so work on that might actually finally get done! :) But I wanted to write a post today to keep all of you lovely little fangfaces posted. Discrepancies and Curiosities - Part 10

Scene 10 - Another Amulet

1. The script has Rookery describe how his ancestors had to persuade the magician to make another amulet for them to send the vampires to hell. This brings to mind the following:
1. Was the magician a sympathizer who knew a way to make the vampires human again and set out to do it for their sake?
2. Were the vampires cursed magically? It's possible in a universe where it's clear magic exists and people can use it, but was that really how that happened, or is it just that the vampires view their situation like a curse (a la, so beautiful it's a curse)?
1. If the latter, is there a progenitor, and, if so, who? Is it Dracula? Judas? In the series, Dracula is acknowledged as the ruler of all the world's vampires (and I understand he's kind of a goof), but does that mean he's the first one or just the one in charge for whatever reason (powers, age, the old one died, etc.)?
2. "It's my graveyard. It's my job. I'll do it. What am I doing?" is shortened by dropping the "What am I doing?" part, but on paper it's hilarious.
3. Rudolph is the only vampire to awaken when his brother Gregory is attacking the caretaker, followed by the other members of the family, not the all-in-one deal presented in the script.
4. The fight between Frederick and Gregory is longer in the script. For example, Frederick does not immediately jump into asking if Gregory thinks he's oblivious; instead, there is an effort by Gregory to get the other family members on his side of the argument. When he gets called on his crap that's when Frederick asks if Gregory thinks he's oblivious, and the argument continues from there.
1. Funnily enough I wonder how it would've resolved itself if Rookery hadn't intervened. I'm not sure if it's a common occurrence for Gregory to pick fights or if he was banned from running from his problems as the timeline got shorter.
5. Rookery in the final cut thanks the caretaker for his "public spirit" before his light gets shattered. In the script it's afterward (and quite frankly doesn't leave much room for anger).
